A look into Circle Square Ranch history

1970s & 80s:
A TV show becomes a real camp

Circle Square Ranch began in an unusual place: television. In the 1970s, Crossroads Christian Communications created Circle Square, a children’s TV program featuring a fictional summer camp where kids had adventures, built friendships, and learned about God.

Families loved the idea so much that they began asking how they could send their own children to Circle Square Ranch. Eventually, the fictional camp became real, with Circle Square Ranch locations opening across Canada.

Circle Square Ranch Brantford, now called Circle Square Ranch Grand River, welcomed its first campers in 1985.

1990s & 2000s: The Ranch grows

As more campers came through the gates, the Ranch grew with them.

New programs and facilities were added, the horse herd expanded, and generations of campers and young leaders made the Ranch part of their summer traditions.

And yes, the collection of camp songs grew too.

2011: A new chapter with InterVarsity Canada

In 2011, Crossroads gifted five Circle Square Ranches to InterVarsity Canada, a Christian organization with decades of experience helping children and young people explore and grow in faith.

Circle Square Ranch Grand River became part of InterVarsity’s network of summer camps across Canada.

Today

Today, Circle Square Ranch Grand River welcomes children and teens for day and overnight summer camps filled with outdoor adventure, horses, friendship, and opportunities to learn about God’s love.

During the rest of the year, we welcome school groups for outdoor education and host retreats for churches, youth groups, community organizations, families, and other groups.
