Leaders in Training (LIT) is for the teen who is ready to take a step forward

Over three weeks, they learn by doing, are mentored by experienced camp leaders who are genuinely invested in them, and are given real opportunities to lead.

They spend an afternoon rafting the Grand River, gather around campfires, and experience everything that makes camp worth remembering.

Through it all, they look at how Jesus led by serving others, and what that could look like in their own life.

They go home more confident, more grounded, and ready for what comes next.

How the Three Weeks Work

Weeks 1 and 2 – Formation

  • LITs learn alongside peers who are asking the same questions. They dig into scripture together and ask honest questions about faith and life.
  • Alongside that, they gain real leadership experience. They step up in front of their peers, coordinate activities, and take on roles that ask something real of them. Experienced camp leaders invest in them through all of it.

Week 3 – Placement

  • In the third week, LITs return to camp and step into a support or job shadow role alongside camp staff.
  • Some work in support roles, such as kitchen or maintenance, some work as day camp group leaders, and some work in program areas such as horsemanship or lifeguarding.
  • They job shadow throughout the day and join Teen Week campers in the evenings for activities and special events.
  • Most LITs finish the program and are invited to volunteer at the ranch.

"Being part of LIT allowed me to be more outgoing in my leadership and gave me a space to make real connections and friendships. It gave me a great practical understanding of what living for Jesus is like."
